Music by Gene de Paul, lyrics by Patricia Johnston and Don Raye, 1941 Leeds Music Corporation. Debuted in 1942 by Dick Foran in the Abbot and Costello comedy film "Ride ‘Em Cowboy".
This arrangement is reminiscent of the ballroom music of the 40’s and early 50’s, andwas prepared in the “easy listening” style for the entertainment of the troops during the Korean War.
This and other arrangements of popular music from the 40’s and 50‘s were created for and performed by the “Thunderbirds,” a select group of musicians from the 45th Infantry Division Band of the 45th (Thunderbird) Infantry Division of the U.S. ARMY fighting in Korea.
This special group performed during “mini R and R” (short rest and recuperation from battle) periods for troops as well as “musical fillers” between USO show acts presented by USO Show groups. Their object was to present “a touch of home” for war weary troops and the momentary relief they could help provide from the terrors of war. az clic aquí para editar.
