Cup ‘O’ Joe for trombone sextet (5 tenors and 1 bass) was mostly written over one single night fueled by copious amounts of coffee and a deep, but short-lived, resentment against corporate cafes. It was premiered by the Los Angeles Trombone Collective in 2010 and consists of short, interspersed movements with loosely tied themes. Ranging from poly-rhythmic R&B motives to members of the ensemble screaming at each other over cellphones, this piece is sure to entertain crowds to say the least.
