Description
A cantus-firmus chorale in which the melody recurs throughout the organ piece. After the organ has completed the prelude, the chorus presents the theme while the organ continues to decorate the chorale with figures from the prelude.
Organ Chorale (with Choral addenda)
An organ chorale is a contrapuntal composition based upon a chorale melody. The melody that serves as the basis for THE THRONE OF JEHOVAH was created by Donald Johnston. The type of construction for this organ chorale would be classified as a cantus-firmus chorale in which the melody recurs throughout the organ piece. After the organ has completed the prelude, the chorus presents the theme while the organ continues to decorate the chorale with figures from the prelude. Upon completion of the chorale by the chorus, the organ presents a coda derived from the prelude.
