ALLELUIAS FOR ORCHESTRA was commissioned by conductor Henry Charles Smith for the 1999 December Holiday Concert of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. The ALLELUIAS is a glittering festival piece, which is as notable for its soaring, singing melody, as it is for its colorful orchestration and captivating rhythm. The work was conceived as musical exposition of the joy inherent in the word "alleluia."
