Description
This short piece, is a lament on the disappearance of the son of
an acquaintance of mine, and one of the hundreds of "desaparecidos" that
vanish every year in Mexico.
After a brief and dark introduction by the strings, the bassoon and the English horn
start a poignant musical conversation representing the grief of the parents.
In the middle section, the line of the violin solo is a remembrance of the lost one,
establishing a contrapuntal dialogue with the bassoon and the horn before fading away in a long decrescendo and the increasingly higher notes.
The last section restates the initial conversation of the bassoon and the horn tying
together the threads of grief and remembrance in a dramatic conclusion.
