TRANSCENDING describes a battle against opposing forces, ending in a peaceful victory. The words of Martin Luther's "Ein feste Burg" were the inspiration, and the melody of the choral is incorporated into the composition. In the coda, the last line of another hymn, as set to the tune "Hyfrydol," is quoted: Lost in wonder, love and praise."
