This composition enfolds a panorama of despair. Within a moderate vocal range and undemanding intonation for all voices, the a cappella chorus functions as the orchestra, soloists and chorus in a dramatic scene. Out of initial moaning emerge the bass voices acting as narrator and the drama begins- outcries, pleading and bewildered shouting merge and create an emotional crescendo that reaches its climax of ecstatic jubilation on the words "HALLELUIAH, MOSES!"
